Stay Hydrated - Naturally

August 12, 2022

Water is necessary for the survival of all living organisms on Earth.

Depending on your age, gender and body composition, at least half of your weight comes from water. About 45% to 50% of body weight in females is water compared to 50% to 60% in males.

Drinking enough water each day - staying hydrated - is important for many reasons: to regulate body temperature, keep joints lubricated, prevent infections, deliver nutrients to cells and keep organs functioning properly. Being well-hydrated also improves sleep quality, cognition and mood.

Within our body is an abundance of electrolytes. Sodium, chloride, potassium and magnesium are the primary electrolytes which help support muscle contractions, nerve impulses, water balance and pH balance.

Our body maintains a balance of water and electrolytes. This balance can be compromised due to strenuous working conditions, inclement climate, food & drinks, medication, and illness & stress.

Did you know that dehydration of as little as 1% body weight (i.e., 2lb for a 200lb person) is enough to reduce both endurance and strength performance — as well as cognitive performance?

So what should you drink?
